Interfaith Friendship Walk and One World Festival
"There was a time, when I blamed my companion if his religion did not resemble mine. Now, however, my heart accepts every form....Love alone is my religion." Ibn Arabi
The 2017 annual Oxford Interfaith Friendship Walk was held on the 29th of June. Interfaith Friendship Walks have been held since 2003. This year there was a particulary large turnout as many people felt they wanted to show solidarity with the Muslim community. The walk started as usual at the Oxford Jewish Centre in Jericho and from there meandering through the streets of Oxford, passing other places of worship and ending with a superb meal at the Central Mosque in Cowley. All the 'usual suspects' were there, incl. our mayor, Moh. Altaf-Khan. So many wonderful people, great conversations and new friendships that were made. It was a huge success, proving that we have far more in common than what divides us.
